First Edition Signed
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Poor. First Edition. Signed By Maria Von Trapp, who died in 1987 and Father Franz Wasner, who was their musical director and much more and died in 1992. (Hard to believe Maria Von Trapp died 36 years ago!) Vintage Large Hardcover Book is in Good condition wit the inside text being in Very Good condition. Your can tell this is a First Edition, as it was inscribed ("To My beloved wife Christmas 1950") which was the first year this book was published and was now 73 years ago! One the same blank first end page are the signatures of Maria and Franz Wasner. Also on the page is a small card taped in one corner that appears to have handwritten "Away in a manager and many others all suitable as lullabys for an adorable mother and her child" signed "John". What the book itself is only showing some aging with some darkening inside the front and back cover and some wear to the outside corners and edges. I did not find any other writings or markings in the book with the exception of the aforementioned first end page. The Dust Jacket is in Poor condition missing the front flap and the top right hand corner area of the front cover. The back flap is present. Looks like one piece of clear tape on the inside of the Dust Jacket. Hard to find the Signed Hardback with both Maria and Franz. Great Collectible that would make a wonderful gift! Signed.

First Edition Signed
First edition of this selection of Christmas songs from the world famous Trapp family singers. Oblong octavo, original pictorial half-cloth, illustrated throughout. Boldly signed on the front free endpaper by Baroness Maria Augusta von Trapp and her six children Maria Franziska, Agathe, Werner, Hedwig, Johannes, and Eleonore. Additionally signed by priest, conductor, and arranger Franz Wasner. Very good in a very good dust jacket. Selected and arranged by Franz Wasner. Illustrated by Agathe Trapp. Ownership name to the front panel of the dust jacket. The von Trapp Family Singers were a renowned vocal ensemble composed of the Austrian von Trapp family, whose story later inspired the musical The Sound of Music. Led musically by Maria von Trapp, the group emigrated to the United States in 1938 following the Nazi annexation of Austria and soon gained popularity for their performances of liturgical music, folk songs, and classical repertoire. The Trapp-Family Book of Christmas Songs, selected and arranged by Franz Wasner, offers a collection of traditional carols and sacred music that reflects the musical heritage and devotional spirit of the Trapp Family Singers. Compiled by the familyâs musical director, Father Wasner, the volume includes both European and American selections, with arrangements designed for vocal harmony in the style for which the group was internationally known.
