Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book collects and presents documents on the life of Saint Francis alongside a summary of the proceedings of the annual general meeting of the International Society of Franciscan Studies held in Assisi in 1904. The report of the meeting outlines the broad brushstrokes of the Society's first year, including the presentation of a curriculum of Franciscan studies to the University of Aberdeen, the endowment of the Lefevre-Deumier prize by the author Paul Sabatier, the publication of various critical and historical works on St. Francis of Assisi by authors such as E. Gebhart, Leone De Kerval, Augusto Cholat, and Enrico Boehmer. The author also highlights the growing interest in the study of the Franciscan movement in Germany and concludes by presenting a memorial and proposed artistic monument dedicated to the memory of St. Francis of Assisi, designed by the artist Vincenzo Rosignoli. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is a chronicle of foundational ideas and events surrounding the establishment of the International Society of Franciscan Studies in Assisi. The volume opens with a rare 1902 speech by historian Paul Sabatier, who was instrumental in the society's founding. Sabatier recounts the serendipitous discovery of S. Francesco's relics in 1818 and the subsequent wave of historical interest in the saint, situating the society within that intellectual movement. Following Sabatier, other notable members of the society, including Leto Alessandri, Regolo Casali, and Francesco Pennacchi, present reports on the organization's early progress, the growth of the Assisi-based library, and their efforts to establish the society as a hub for the study and preservation of Franciscan history. In addition to these reports, the volume includes an article summarizing the state of Franciscan studies in 1902, and a catalog of the society's library holdings up to that date. Together, these contributions provide an invaluable resource for scholars of Franciscan history, and a fascinating glimpse into the origins of one of the world's most important institutions for the study of medieval religion. paperback. Condition: As New. Brossura editoriale di pagine 175, ancora intonso (a fogli chiusi). Pari al nuovo (as new).
