A unique proof copy of the 1991 facsimile for The Fowler Architectural Collection of the John Hopkins University. Laurence Hall-Fowler was an American architect-scholar who is well-known for his design of Baltimore's War Memorial. He collected rare and fine editions of architecture books throughout his lifetime and donated his entire collection to John Hopkins University upon his retirement in 1945. This catalogue, first published in 1961, provides complete detail for the four hundred and forty four works in Fowler's collection. Fowler compiled this catalogue in collaboration with Elizabeth Baer, who was the librarian of the historic John Work Garrett Library Collection in Baltimore. The Fowler Architectural Collection includes works by architects such as Vitruvius, Alberti, Serlio, Palladio, and Scamozzi.Illustrations include 30 plates from works within the collection, as well as three folding tables at the rear.Book includes printed press release for the 1991 facsimile, that was due to be printed following this proof copy.Collated, complete.
