Usually with a photograph of the artist on the front,a color plate inside the cover, and numerous black and… white plates. This is monograph no. 19 in this attractive series of books published in the 1940's. The series featured well known American artists such as Charles Burchfield, Rockwell Kent and Thomas Hart Benton. As well as artists lesser known today such as Waldo Pierce, Doris Lee, Alexander Brook and Eugene Speicher. I believe there were 20 monographs in the series and I have most of these listed. In 2 places in the catalogue Soyer has penned a critique of the color reproduction of his work.
