Knowing his heir is not as generous, he requests a pear to be buried beside him. While the heir fences off the pear tree so as not to share its fruit, a new tree grows at Ribbeck's graveside. Wonderful woodcuts by Nonny Hogrogian decorate this timeless tale based on a 19th century poem.
