Trade Paperback. Condition: Near Fine. Flippo, Kathy - Cover Design, Maps, Charts, and Sketches (illustrator). First Edition Stated. 275 Pages plus a 37-Page Appendix. Tight bright book with nno marks or stamps. The author knows the Upper Mississippi River well. Though she now lives with her husband Pat in a home buried in the Osage County hills near Hope, Missouri, she learned the river first on Beaver Island at Clinton, Iowa, where she was born, and then during her travels to and from Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she attended college. Later, while living in St. Louis, she learned the river from Clinton to St. Louis. Her river knowledge increased rapidly when she married Pat, a river captain, and for years she was able to accompany him on the boats. When she was not actually on the boats, she was called upon requently to make deliveries to them and participate in crew changes. From the pilothouse to the galley and beyond, Kathy has many interesting tales to tell.
