(rug overplakt, omslag en laatste blad wat beschadigd en roestvlekkig) In 1884 werd de eerste ronde van de prijsvraag voor een nieuw beursgebouw in Amsterdam gehouden. Verschillende Amsterdammers waren onder de indruk van de nieuwe Parijsche boulevards, en de strat…en van steden als Leipzig en Berlijn. Zij wilden de Beursbouw combineren met de aanleg van een brede Stationsboulevard vanaf het in aanbouw zijnde Centraal Station naar de Dam. Aan dit alles lag een flinke dosis eigenbelang ten grondslag van die personen, die bij de aanleg van zo'n brede boulevard hun grond in waarde zouden zien stijgen. Een van de meest volhardende particulieren was W. P. Werker, eigenaar van het Bible Hotel aan het Damrak. Werker werd gesteund door A. W. de Flines, firmant van Blikman & Sartorius. Hij richtte van 1887 tot 1896 verschillende adressen aan de raad, waar in hij pleitte voor een Beurs aan het Damrak, dat hij geheel wilde doen dempen en transformeren in een brede boulevard met plantsoenen en fonteinen in het midden (G. Hoogewoud, De Amsterdamse Beursprijsvraag van 1884, p. 278).

Add to basketUnrecorded printed auction announcement and inventory of the frigate Prins van Oranje, which was launched in 1729, commanded by Teunis Kragt and put up for auction in 1747 by the brokers Jacob de Flines and his son in Amsterdam. Its great detail makes it a highly interesting source for the equipment, supplies and provisions of a…n 18th-century Dutch frigate. It mentions the various ropes, sails, ship's cabin goods (for example tea and coffee pots), the helmsmen's goods (compass, lamp, etc.), the cook's goods (kettles, pans, spoons), artillery and munition (among other things a linstock, pistols and gunpowder) and many other goods aboard a 18th-century frigate. The auction took place on 23 October 1747 at the home of Matthijs Poolman, "casteleyn van Nieuwezijds Heeren Logement". One copy of another inventory and announcement of an auction by Jacob de Flines, almost identical in lay-out to the present, is recorded in the STCN, for the ship Magdalena Ester, sold in 1745. It is now in the Amsterdam city archives.With a small drawing in black ink and two contemporary inscriptions in brown ink by the same hand on the blank pages.
