The dry rot section details methods of preserving ship-timbers, moisture, seeds and distribution of fungi, dry and wet-rot, ship ventilation, topical applications for preserving timber, including the use of moss and smoking. Book owned by George R. Brush, M.D., US Navy who served as a surgeon and medical inspector from 1861-1894, with his small margin pencil "x" noting commentary he deemed relevant.
