A diferencia del valor monetario, l…os términos amenazados de inflación no pueden perder su poder adquisitivo, pero sí su significado. En una comunidad donde el conocimiento, las interacciones sociales y las emociones adquieren forma de mercancía, puede observarse un creciente desdibujamiento de las fronteras entre arte y trabajo. Atributos que provienen del arte como creativo, por ejemplo encuentran una poderosa difusión en los mundos laborales (?creativo). Aquí llama la atención que la evaluación del hecho artístico y del trabajo remunerado se lleva a cabo usando casi los mismos adjetivos (?productivo).Estos conceptos, empleados de manera inflacionaria, son expresión de que las cualidades inmateriales adquieren un valor de cambio y están sometidas a economías tanto lingüísticas como monetarias. La acumulación de estas palabras muestra que las ideas y cualidades encerradas en ellas corresponden a una estructura de necesidad. Ya se trate de adjudicaciones propias o ajenas, los adjetivos glosados aquí ofrecen un contravalor económico fundamentado en convenciones. Lo que Beuys formulara una vez como exigencia, usando palabras del poeta Novalis que todo ser humano es un artista, para el filósofo italiano Paolo Virno es motivo para hacer un diagnóstico de crisis.
