No Binding. Condition: Very Good. Original Document. Handwritten Promissory Note from the Connecticut Pay Table, dated December 20, 1779, to Capt. Samuel Uffoot of the 2nd Company, 4th Connecticut Regiment in the amount of 44 pounds, 17 shillings and 10 pence. Signed by Fenn Wadsworth (1750-1785), John Chenward (1733-1805) and O…liver Wolcott, Jr (1760-1833). Capt Uffoot signs and acknowledges receipt of the note on the verso. Fenn Wadsworth served as Brigade Major to General James Wadsworth in the Connecticut militia from 1776-1779. Oliver Wolcott, Jr, son of a signer of the Declaration of Independence, later served as the nation's second Secretary of the Treasury from 1795-1800 and as Connecticut Governor from 1817-1827. An excellent example of a handwritten Revolutionary War document with multiple signatures from officers and statesmen of the era. Very good condition. Two old folds to paper. Signed by Author(s).
