1st printing. 5, [1] pp. Sheet music within. 14" x 10-3/4" "In Ireland they started once a Temperance Brigade, All for the country's good the leader said; with their banners and their music they all marched about the town. Forty men, with Michael Crogan at their head; Making speeches asking landlords to close up their saloons. No doubt it would have gone on very well, all the people went and joined them from Kinsella's Whiskey inn, Then they triesd to paralyze Mc Gee's Hotel. But the band was nearly gasping and a desp'rate charge they made. All the boys were drinking whiskey in temp'rance Brigade!" Comic song - ends with the boys in the Brigade drinking Whiskey and becoming paralytic. Seems to be a parody on more serious temperance songs! Only 1 institutional holding listed (Oxford). Rare in the trade. Moderate wear to wrappers (chipping to edges and corners and age-toning, soiling). Wrappers detached, previous owner's signature in pencil to front wrapper. A Good example. Buff wrappers printed in black ink. Elaborate printing to front wrapper. Now housed in a clear archival mylar sleeve.
