Rebound in black cloth with original spine covering retained, closely matching original binding covers. The covers are clean, unfaded (but slight browning to original spine cloth), and not rubbed -- fine condition. No previous own…er marks or writing on any pages, no foxing, solid binding, complete with all pages, plates, and map. The folding map is browned as usual (printed on tissue-like paper) and has some crinkles due to misfolding. The book measures 237mm tall x 153mm, and has 295 pages, 25 b/w photos, folding map, index. PHOTOS ARE OF THE ACTUAL ITEM BEING OFFERED.

Condition: Very good plus. 295 pp. Octavo. Original black cloth. Corners a bit bumped. Blind lines on boards. Gilt title on spine. Joints with a couple of slight creases. Edges slightly foxed. Original endpapers with inscription. 25 illustrations from photographs. Folding map. Text block very clean and tight. A very good copy ov…erall. Bruce in his introduction states Featherstone deals with his attempt to reach the New or Western Muztagh Pass and was one of a number of people attempting to explore the vast region of the Kara-koram Himalayas. Featherstone's expedition was privately put together and done on his leave! Not a bad thing to do on your holidays! a nice copy of the book is uncommon but much more so inscribed in 1936.

From Srinagar the route of the journey was as follows; Zoji La-Skardu to Skoro La to Askole to New Mustagh Pass, and the return journey was made through Askole, Braldu valley, Skoro La, and Skardu. Then he travelled through the Shyok and the Nubra valleys to Leh.".
