Boards and lettering on spine rubbed, top page ridge soiled, front hinge starting pencil name on front endpaper. 1906 Hard Cover. 293 pp. An adaptation of the play by Edwin Milton Royle. Picture of man on cover dressed in hat, vest. chaps with holster. Edwin Milton Royle has wri…tten an idyl of the West that will enjoy, and deserves to enjoy, a lasting and substantial measure of success. "The Squaw Man" is a play for women, and, what is rarer, it is a play for men. Possibly the most peculiar fact about it is that it is written in such an exceptionally sincere vein that it will move the masculine part of our population as deeply as the feminine. -- New York Times Review.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book invites readers into the opulent yet turbulent world of British aristocracy at the turn of the 20th century. It delves into the lives of two cousins, Jim and Henry Wynnegate, bound by family ties but separated by circumstance and character. Jim, raised in the shadow of his pr…ivileged cousin after his father's death, embodies integrity and selflessness, while Henry, heir to the Wynnegate earldom, is consumed by self-interest and recklessness. Their paths diverge further as Jim embarks on a military career in India, earning accolades for his bravery, while Henry indulges in a life of luxury and questionable decisions. Central to the narrative is Diana Marjoribanks, a young woman of remarkable beauty and spirit. As she navigates the complexities of love, duty, and societal expectations, she finds herself entangled with both cousins, leading to a captivating exploration of human relationships and the choices that shape our destinies. Through vivid descriptions of lavish estates, grand balls, and the contrasting realities of colonial India, the author delves into themes of class disparity, family loyalty, and the enduring power of love and sacrifice. The story offers poignant insights into the human condition, revealing the enduring conflicts between duty and desire, ambition and integrity, ultimately highlighting the transformative power of compassion and courage in navigating life's challenges. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
