A finely engraved and attractive 19th century view of Corpus Christi College the Old Court, Cambridge, England which appeared in Le Keux's Memorials of Cambridge (London: Tilt & Bogue, 1841/42) Antique steel engraved print. Engraved by J. Le Keux; Drawn by F. R. Farrren Matted 10 by 8 inches. Engraving 6 by 4.75 inches on larger sheet. Provenance: "Memorials of Cambridge"; Engraved by J. Le Keux, by Thomas Wright; Published by David Bogue, London. Robert B. Farren 1832-1912 "The figurative painter and engraver, Robert Farren, was born on 5 March 1832 in Cambridge. His work was exhibited in London between 1868 and 1880, particularly at the National Gallery and at Suffolk Street. Little is known about his life but he is associated in particular with his paintings of Cambridge, where he lived and worked until his move to Scarborough for health reasons in 1889." Condition is Good; Exterior is Fair worn and faded with some rippling to the cloth, hinges are cracked but holding well, plates are all very good, ffep detched but present, some foxing and staining in lower corner of fore edge, image area and surrounding area very clean, tissue guards (3 missing) have light ghosting from the etchings. Heavy book will require additional postage for international or expedited shipping. RGR OS.
