Paperback. Condition: Very Good. Matching the 1953 production, this vocal score of Calamity Janecomes complete with all thelyrics and a straightforward yet effective piano accompaniment. Featuring classics such as Adelaide and A Woman's Touch, this score will put you straight in the spotlight. Deadwood, Dakota Territory, is largely the abode of men, where Indian scout Calamity Jane is as hard-riding, boastful, and handy with a gun as any! But the army lieutenant she favours doesn't really appreciate her finer qualities. One of Jane's boasts brings her to Chicago to recruit an actress for the Golden Garter stage. Katie, the beautiful young actress, takes the eye of Wild Bill Hickok, Jane's friendly enemy. . The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.
Sheet Music. Condition: Very Good. M. Witmark & Sons, Published 1954. Sheet music, 4 pp.; 31 cm; plate 21099-3; pictorial cover in turquoise with a photographic cutout of Doris Day under a parasol. In Very Good condition. Mild edge wear with light creasing to the corner tips and faint toning along the edges. Previous owner's name in pen at the head of the cover, with a faded "MAY 14" date stamp to the right of it. Pages otherwise clean and unmarked. The title song from Lucky Me, the first musical ever filmed in CinemaScope, released by Warner Bros. in April 1954 with Doris Day, Robert Cummings and Phil Silvers. Sammy Fain and Paul Francis Webster wrote it between two Academy Awards: they had taken Best Original Song in 1953 for "Secret Love," sung by Doris Day in Calamity Jane, and would take it again in 1955 for "Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing." Of the six songs written for the picture, this was the only one to become a hit, reaching number 16 on the American chart as a Columbia single backed with "The Blue Bells of Broadway." The film is also where Angie Dickinson first appeared on screen, in an uncredited bit in the party scene that she won through a television contest. For medium voice and piano, with chord symbols and ukulele chord diagrams, and an arrangement for Hammond Chord Organ on page 4 by J. M. Hanert, the Hammond company's own engineer. The cover lists the film's songs: I Speak to the Stars; The Superstition Song; The Blue Bells of Broadway; Love You Dearly; I Wanna Sing Like an Angel; Take a Memo to the Moon.
