COMPLETE TWO VOLUME SET. "New edition, revised and corrected" (as stated upon title page). Hardcovers, H 20.25cm x L 13.75cm. No dust jacket present for either volume. Uniformly bound in red cloth with art nouveau-style gilt stamped flower decoration to front boards and spines. Light soiling to boards; some fading/dulling to spines which have shallow wear/fraying at ends; some shelf rubbing and small stains to board edges. Top edges gilt; light toning to fore-edges and bottom edges. Volume I retains its sewn-in silk ribbon page marker but Volume II lacking its page marker. Light toning/foxing and soiling to endpapers but interior pages are clean. Bindings are firm. Still an attractive set. With b/w plates and guard sheets on unpaged leaves; Volume II has foldout map at rear. Very good copies of the hard cover book in good+ dust jacket. The dust jackets are blue cloth faced with heavy paper and has gilded lettering on the spine. The jacket's spine tabs have a little wear. The pages are exuberant, clean and clear, very confident, amenable and agreeable, fervently romantic. Bound in navy cloth with titles and decorative floral motifs in gilt on front board and spine. Top edge gilt. Photographs of Rhine scenes with captioned tissue-guards. Fold-out map in rear of vol, II. Square, tight and clean throughout with just a touch of wear to edges and tips. No toning of foxing. Remarkably well-preserved with bright gilt all round. Very attractive, and quite uncommon, navy cloth dust-jackets with spine letters in gilt. A bit of rubbing and edge-wear but solid with no chipping, creases or tears. A gorgeous collectable set and scarce in such nice condition.…
