Black title above and Black lettering on spine. 192 pages, 1.4 Kilos, 11" Tall. Some wear to cloth, corners worn and 2 small tears ( about 1" long ) on right side of spine. Hinges cracked. Text block firm. Previous owner's inscription faintly written on endpaper. No other inscriptions. Weight, 1.4 Kilos so Shipping Outside UK will be extra. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.

Blue boards with a quarter blue buckram spine with red stamped title to spine. In original scarce, beautiful dust jacket, and with numerous photographic illustrations throughout including a full colour reproduction of a watercolour of the flats opposite title page. Minor spotting to boards and jacket somewhat chipped and sunned to spine. Very Good. A wonderful and affectionate history of how Bonneville came to be and came to be the byword for speed. It plots the early history of land speed records and search for 300mph.

h/c + d/j, 23x14.5cm, 219 pages, illustrated by four colour plates by Bryan de Grineau. and 5 gravure photo plates. The cloth is faded where the jacket has loss, previous owner gift inscription to the ffep dated 1938, Top of d/j has been repaires, d/j covers have scuffs and creasese to edges, repairs on rear of d/j to corners, sparodic foxing to ledges and edges, d/j has wear but still maintains nice graphics. D/J wrap arounnd shows Illustration of Eyston's record breaking run in his Magic Midget on the Pendine Sands in 1932. Colour frontispiece showing a racing Bugatti on a banked circuit and three other colour plates all from drawings by Bryan de Grineau.

Blue cloth-covered boards, gilt-stamped lettering on front and spine. 8vo. Cloth is a little faded, marked around the head and heel of spine and quite heavily along the rear fore edge, lightly pushed at corners and spine ends. Text block edges a little dull. Internally, there is some very occasional foxing else neat, clean and tight. In its original illustrated dust wrapper, very worn, heavily chipped at edges, tears with tape repairs, significant loss on rear panel and shelf worn throughout. A notable book in the history of motorsport. Alan Hess was a British racing driver (and chief publicity officer for the Austin Motor Company. Here he puts on the record the full and intimate story of the successful record-attack in April 1948 by the Austin A90 Atlantic at the Indianapolis (Brickyard) circuit. And to his credit, despite his position with Austin, he pulls no punches in giving the candid facts about the record bid and makes some pithy comments on the people he met and the things he saw. It is a detailed account, delving into such things as pit-drill and off-track incidents. Described in a contemporary review in Motor Sport magazine as a 'lavish publication, with its many full page photographs and four colour plates'.

The rarely seen dust wrapper is in VG clean condition other than a very small ink spot to front and a little wear corners and spine ends. An uncommon book and rarely seen in such nice condition.
