The dust jacket is rubbed & soiled with… some minor chips to the edges and a piece out from the head of the jacket's spine. 111 pages, with 50 full-page black & white illustrations from drawings by Louis Lupas. Very good. First edition. One-page impressions of musicians with brief biographies and comments on their work, each accompanied by a portrait by Louis Lupas. Included are conductors, pianists, singers and violinists--among them, Toscanini, Myra Hess, Roland Hayes, Chaliapin, Jascha Heifetz, Walter Gieseking and Paul Robeson.
