Very good condition 24 large… colour plates of roses by Pierre Joseph Redouté (1759 - 1840), who has been called the greatest botanical illustrator of all time. This is another selection of a further variety of roses, following Ariel Press's publication of "Roses" in 1954. In her introduction, Eva Mannering writes of the mythology and folklore surrounding roses.
