The 15 leaves at the rear (all adverts) has a newspaper article in strips to each page on " Chymistry of Wine" from an article c1870. there are 100 woodcut il…lustrations by the authors brother and that includes the full page frontis. The embossed cloth in dark aquamarine blue has some light wear at corners and spine edge, also a surface loss spot to top edge of gilt cover art and top corner a little, spine bright and titles clear. Pages 112 and 127 have worn outer edges and paper a little browned along the very edge. Contents slightly shaken in two spots, the contents are still firm and clean, the adverts all of interest to wine, champagne and port businesses. Small Octavo. 18 x 12.5 cm. Good+ to VG. *Rare. *Author also wrote the famous "History of Champagne" in 1882. He was a publisher also and published the 1st English edition of Poe's Tales of Mystery in 1852. Ernest A. Vizetelly.
