Pictorial Cloth. Condition: Near Very Good. No Jacket. Hardcover in tan cloth printed in blue, sans dust-jacket. Illustrated with two-color drawings by Ernest Vetsch. Bright colorful illustrated endpapers. Silver spine lettering has faded and mull exposed between title and frontispeice. Inner hinges still solid, no name, no book…-plate, no writing at all internally. Pages show mild toning at extremities but text is quite clean. A title in the Cuffy Bear series, this copy is in near very good condition. Ernest Vetsch (illustrator).

Fragile jacket worn and a little torn at the edges, with some loss to the head and tail of the spine. Bruising to the cloth at the spine and a little to the corners. Binding… split at the front hinge with some tears to the endpapers around the wire staples, block a little loose in the covers. Ownership inscription to the 'This Book is My Own' section at the rear pastedown, and the same name is written in ink on the front cover of the dustjacket. A VG copy, scarce in it's jacket. A sequel to Helen Bannerman's hugely popular children's book 'The Story of Little Black Sambo', illustrated here by Clara Bell Thurston and Erne Vetch. Proliferating racial caricatures of the Jim Crow era, 'The Story of Little Black Sambo' and follow on texts such as this volume have gained notoriety for the racist stereotypes which characterise their illustrations. Publisher's code 731D on the jacket 16mo. Illustrated.
