The second of the National Gallery's War Pictures booklets, published to record artist's responses to the war in artwork held at London's National Gallery. A brief 4 page introduction by Eric Newton (the art critic, artist and writer) is followed by examples of work by Paul Nash, Edward Bawden, Edward Ardizzonr, Stanley Spencer, Eric Ravilious, Carel Weight, Henry Moore, and Barnett Freedman. The front cover shows 'Part of a Row of Bombed Solicitors' Offices, Swansea' by Graham Sutherland. Most illustrations are black and white, with five in colour. Condition: Good condition. Some light creasing and wear to the covers. There is tanning / yellowing to the margins and some rusting to the staples but otherwise good.

There is an ink inscription at bottom of front endpaper. one of the founders of the Riga Group of experimental artists. The reproductions in this book cover his life's work from an early portrait in 1915 to the portraits of women and still-lifes done in England.
