Paperback. 6 x 9 inches. Paperback. 96 pages. From May 25 to 31, 2014, twenty-four members of the Grolier Club embarked on a bibliophilic tour of Hungary. A brilliant opening gala at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest was followed by an abundance of library tours: the Archdiocesan Library of Eger, Franciscan Library at Gyöngyös Hungarian National Library, Cistercian Abbey and Library at Zirc, Szabó Ervin Public Library, and Ráday Historic Library. Travelers also provide accounts of a moving visit to the historic Great Synagogue and an expedition to the Valley of the Beautiful Woman, among other sites. An introduction to Budapest's vibrant community of book artists took place at the hotel reception, and the last day was highlighted by an excursion to the Hungarian State Opera House. The volume contains a detailed itinerary and a list of participants and their interests. Designed by Ryan Polich and set in Casus and Engravers types by Tina Henderson.

hardcover, dust jacket. 5.5 x 9.5 inches. hardcover, dust jacket. 96 pages. First edition. Fine in fine dust jacket. On May 30, 2001, thirty-seven members of the Grolier Club visited many of the greatest private and institutional collections of Scotland and England, viewing fine bindings, Gutenberg Bibles, rare atlases and herbals, unusual political tracts, and more. This book is an itinerary of the trip, consisting of pieces written by the participants on each day's bookish activities, lessons, and entertainment. Outside of libraries, the members also visited the village of Auchinleck, enjoyed dinner on the Britannia yacht, toured the gardens of Wardington Manor, and dined at the Guild Hall of the Worshipful Order of Ironmongers. Some of the landmarks and libraries presented in the book including the Culzean Castle, the Library of William Zachs, the Royal Library at Windsor, Eton College Library, The British Library, and the Spencer House. With 45 illustrations from photographs taken by the participants, Iter Britannicum takes the reader through the same journey covered by the Grolier Club members. This story-like text is thoroughly enjoyable to read. A list of travelers and hosts are also included. The book was designed by Scott Vile and printed by the Ascensius Press.
