Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. 1st Edition. "First published 1955" on its copyright page, with no reprint dates, so a first edition. On the pastedown inside its front cover is a hand written gift inscription in blue ink, "To John From Aunt Lou + Family Xmas 1956". This book is in good condition, marred by light bumps and wear on its covers' corners and spine ends, some evidence of briefly having water on its front cover (slight discoloration and 'waviness' but no dampstain or odor) plus slight spine lean, and some soiling and light stains around the edges of its page block (not extending into page margins.) Its binding is sound. Covers and pages are otherwise unmarked and unworn. Its dust jacket, now protected by a removable mylar cover, is mostly whole, in fair but still shelf worthy condition, marred by a corner-clipped front flap, a slightly faded spine, and light stains on its white back (likely mildew residue, but with no accompanying odor.) I will ship this book in a moisture proof zip-loc bag, padded in bubble wrap, inside a sturdy box to assure it reaches its new owner in the same condition as my description.

Hardback. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Bruce Cornwell (illustrator). First Edition. TAS AND THE POSTAL ROCKET E. C. Eliott. Thomas Nelson, London. 1955 First edition 120pp Illustrated Hardback. This copy is in very good condition bright, tight and square. The dustwrapper has some edge wear and one or two closed tears but is entire. It would appear at some time to have been price clipped by the publisher and the cover price of 3/- has been blacked out and the price of 2/6 added. Although Reginald Martin, a.k.a. E. C Eliott, wrote over a hundred books and became one of the more popular children's authors of the 1950s and 1960s, not much is known about the author himself or indeed the full range of his writing. He is probably best remembered for his series of children's westerns featuring Pocomoto. The new gleaming red postal rocket was all set for its flight round the world to deliver the mails. Tas and his friend, Bluey, take a chance and slip inside the rocket to have a look round. Thanks to Bluey's tampering, the rocket, to their horror, takes off, and neither of them has the slightest idea of how to control it . . . . Ref U5.
