A collection of photographs chosen from Eggleston's earliest photographs taken in the American South and through to his most recent work in England. William Eggleston (born 1939) was a pioneer in exploring the artistic potential of color photography. Eggleston made a name for himself with his eccentric, unexpected compositions of everyday life that were nonetheless rife with implied narrative, elevating the commonplace to art. William Eggleston, born in 1939 in Memphis, is one of the most important contemporary American photographers. From the 1970s onwards, his work has significantly contributed to the recognition of color photography as an artistic medium. Record # 362439.…

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. no dj. First edition. First Printing. 580pp. 12.5 x 12.5 inches. 405 photographic illustrations. Set of three cloth-bound photographic books housed in a cloth-bound slipcase. First edition/first printing had a 2,500 book printing. Text by Mark Holborn and William Eggleston III. Books are unread, unmarked, tight, and bright. Gift quality. Books will be shipped in the original shipping container and will require an extra shipping fee because of their weight. From promotional material: The three volumes of The Outlands are drawn from photographs that William Eggleston (born 1939) made on color transparency film from 1969 to 1974, which formed the basis for John Szarkowski's seminal exhibition of Eggleston's work at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1976 with the accompanying book William Eggleston's Guide. However, with the exception of a couple of alternate versions, none of the photographs in The Outlands have been published previously. The result is revelatory. Starting at almost the exact point on the same street in suburban Memphis where Eggleston made his famous photograph of a tricycle, the work follows a route through the back roads to old Mississippi where he was raised. What is disclosed is a sublime use of pure color hovering in semi-detachment from the forms he records. At the time, Eggleston was photographing a world that was already vanishing. Today, this final installment of his color work offers a view of a great American artist discovering the range of his visual language and an unforgettable document of the Deep South in transition.…

hardcover. Condition: Fine. Prima edizione (First Edition). 1010 fotografie di William Eggleston in 10 volumi. Testi di Mark Holborn e Eudora Welty . Cm 32 x 31,5. pp. 1328. . Ottimo (Fine). . Prima edizione (First Edition). . Book.…
