Paper. Condition: Near Fine. B/W Photographs (illustrator). First (presumed). Joseph Parry was born in Merthyr Tydfil in Wales in 1841. At age 12 he left for America but by age 23 he was back in Wales to compete in an Eisteddfod, and by 1878 living there permanently, teaching and composing. He became known as the Good Doctor of Welsh Music. His best known operas are Blodwen and Arianwen. These 83 pages (HALF in Welsh Gaelic) sketch his professional career. 4 b/w photos complement the text. Cond : Paper wrappers are cream coloured w/ navy blue lettering on face and spine. Minimal soiling. EDGES, spine and corners are all fine w/ minimal wear. No names, tears, creases nor folds. One tiny pen scribble on front cover. Very giftable !! Clean and bright and square. Quote (p. 61) : " . the bulk of his large output is unfamiliar. One has usually heard about a small number of items but actually listened to very few.
