A Calvinist, like his more prominent father who had been President of Princet University, Jonathan Edwards (1745-1801) became pastor of the White H…aven Chu of New Haven, Connecticut in 1769. It is inscribed along the top of the titl page: "Presented by the Revd- Mr. Morse of Chestertown to Thos. Adams Augt. 1 1792." Jedediah Morse (1761-1826) had attended Yale and was a tutor at Yale 1786 until he was called to the First Congregational Church of Charlestown, Massachusetts in 1789. He was the eighth child of Jedediah Morse, and he is best remembered as the "father of American geography" and publisher of the fi textbooks on American geography, Geography Made Easy, 1784.
