Fourteen complete magazines well bound with covers in a handsome blue cloth binding (some marking to boards, corners bent and worn) with bright gilt lettering on attractive blue leather spine, purposely issued by Hulton Press for preservation of the first 14 issues of this magazine for subscribers. Preserved well since inception. Many photographs of Neville Chamberlain etc, British society in the lead-up to war, complete with period advertisements. Stefan Lorant, the editor had been imprisoned by the Germans in 1933 after being editor of one of Germany's finest picture magazines and therefore a prominent Jewish journalist and opponent. An interesting contemporary record. Quite rare in this state. Contents clean and un-foxed . Clean original endpapers. Some general age toning to periodicals. The Picture Post marked a transformative moment in British Media. Under the editorship of Hungarian émigré, Stefan Lorant, the magazine introduced a pioneering blend of photojournalism and socially conscious storytelling, setting a new standard for illustrated journalism in the UK.
