Tight hardcover in good condition. 8vo. 681pp. plus 21pp Dedicatory Epistle & Preface. Original brown textured boards with green, brown, & shiny gold marbleized paste-on with vertical gold trim. Replacement brown smooth leather backstrip with bright gold incised fancy diamond-shaped designs & lettering and incised horizontal lines. The top of the pages are bright gold. The endpapers match the marbleized design on the boards. Black & white frontispiece illustration with tissue & facing description page. Same inscription on the front & back of ffep with tiny bookstore sticker along the bottom edge. The boards have a little wear and some edgewear with bumped corners. The paste-ons are complete and the vertical gold trims are bright. The backstrip has a little edgewear. The gold lettering & designs are very bright. The endpaper marbleized designs are very bright. The frontispiece illustration is very bright as is the description page lettering. The original tissue has creased corners. A folded article by Lytton was placed between the copyright page & the half-title page so there is some discoloration. One page of the text has a small corner crease with a tear & there is one instance where pages need to have their bottom edge slit open. Otherwise, the leaves are in very good condition with no markings, etc. Ships within 24 hours. Scans available upon request.
