Cloth very good with light shelf-wear and edgewear, light bumping to extremities, point of fraying to front corner of spine head of 'Tragedies.' Spines square. Bindings sound. Light age-soil to page edges, top edges a little dusty. Prior owner's name inked to front paste down of all volumes, and there are faint remnants of erased pencil markings to FFEP of 'Histories.' Endsheets tanned. Pages lightly age-toned, bumping/creasing to some page corners, text unmarked. This is a multiple-volume set, and may require additional postage to ship.

Dark red full leather fine binding with elaborate gilt design to both covers and spine, and internal borders. Top edge gilt, other edges uncut, on fine paper. Some offsetting fr…om the leather boarders to the free end papers front and back. One silk ribbon, and slight cracking along both joints. Overall fine. Acquired from Maud Lloyd, an admired leading dancer with Ballet Rambert in the 1930s. Later she wrote, with her husband, Nigel Gosling, influential dance books and reviews under the pseudonym, 'Alexander Bland'. When Rudolph Nureyev defected in 1961, they became his surrogate parents.
