Three scarce books on roads and driving, all written in the 1960s, published between 1961-1969.In the publisher's original cloth, with Sedgwick and Jones in the original unclipped dust wrappers.- The Geometric Design of Modern Highways, written by John Hugh Jones. Part of Spon's Civil Engineering Series. Delves into the modern motorways and highways, and explains why certain design choices have been made. Contains numerous in-text illustrations, and photographs of highway junctions. (E & F.N. Spon, 1961).- The Valuation and Development of Petrol Filling Stations, written by J.R.E. Sedgwick. The second edition, revised by R.W. Westbrook, and one chapter revised by J.A. Jackson. A book that dives into the valuation of petrol stations across Britain, useful for estate agents and surveyors. Contains a folding colour map of British price zones to the rear of the work. (The Estates Gazette, 1969).- The Australian Driving Manual, written by Edward Arthur Huxtable. A charming handbook offering drivers advice when on the roads in Australia, including safety tips and behaviours. Contains numerous in-text illustrations, including signs, and those in colour. (McGraw-Hill, 1969). In the publisher's original cloth, with Sedgwick and Jones in the original unclipped dust wrappers. Externally, very smart, with bright boards and the faint small mark. Slight faint spotting to top edge of Jones boards, knocks to the heads and tails of the spines. Minor rubbing to joints of Huxtable, and marginal fading to spine. Minimal edgewear. Dust wrapper are bright and generally clean, with the signs of smudging and browning, heavier to rear of Jones. A couple of small spots to front wrapper of Sedgwick. Rubbing to head and tail of wrapper spine, and to the extremities of Jones, and a closed tear to the top edge of Jones. End papers are bright and clean, with the rare small spot to front end papers of Huxtable and Jones, with offsetting marks to end papers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed. book.
