White (1866-1934) was a teacher in Baltimore who published two collections of macabre fiction as well as some historical fiction during his lifetime. This collection contains 15 tales, about half previously unpublished; two poems, bibliography, notes. 460 copies were printed, of which 450 were for sale; this copy is noted "PC" [publisher's copy] on colophon page.
