Half & Quarter Leather & Cloth. Condition: Fine. No Jacket. The binding is red, the title is on the leather spine in gilt with raised bands. The corners are lightly bumped with shelf wear; all three edges are beautifully marbled. The endpaper are aged and have a former owners book plate; the hinge has cracked but, is holding just fine. The frontispiece "Portrait of Walton" still has the tissue attached. There are 203 wood engravings and 26 total steel engravings including the frontispiece. The interior is a little aged, but still very bright. 496pp. which includes the index.

Calf. Condition: Very Good. Bound in blue calf with gilt lining, spine with raised bands and gilt decoration, title label onlaid in red morocco titled in gilt, all edges marbled, blind stamped inner dentelles, well illustrated, xix + 496 pages, portrait frontispiece, copiously illustrated with wood and steel engravings by a variety of artists including Jackson, Landells, Vizetelly, Gilkes, Bewick, Topham, Linton etc, Index, Apendix on Fishing Stations added by the Publisher, very good.

Frontis has foxing. Otherwise, but for occasional light and trivial soiling, a clean and tight copy. Some fading of gilt decoration on spine. Repair along front gutter. Darkening along both gutters. Wear along spine tips.

Finely bound in stamp-signed Riviere and Son binding of dark green full polished calf, the back with red morocco labels and ornate gilt decorations, marbled end papers with ornate gilt inner dentelles, top edge gilt. Near Fine, the covers with a few faint rubs. xxiv, 416 pp. with 40 engravings. An uncommon later edition of this classic of natural history, WorldCat locates only two libraries with holdings. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Book.

Henry G. Bohn. London. 1861. Illustrated edition, very handsomely bound in full scarlet calf gilt. Gilt fishing motifs and decorations to spine, raised bands.All page edges gilt. Prize binding from Adderstone School - which was endowed in 1573: with a crest in gilt to upper board displaying a stone with the adders springing upwards and below with the words, "Adderstonien Sigil Scholæ." xix, 496 pages plus [1] page list of fishing tackle makers. Portrait frontis., vignette title plus numerous charming engravings to text. Upper board very lightly stained, extremities rubbed, light remains of bookplate to front pastedown. A beauutifully bound copy of an attractive edition of this classic work.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Quarter-bound, hardback book, with each corner, bound in beautiful brown leather bound, gilt edged, tooled spine and gilt titles on the spine. Marbled paper sides, along with marbled inside, front and back boards and first and last pages, marbled edged papers. This stunning book has been beautifully bound and is in really good condition, normal wear, marks and tear apply consistent with use and age. Published in 1861, tissue guard paper for title page still intact. Inside board has named label with crest. 416 pages all intact and nice tight binding. The book also has a nice blue coloured, cotton, page marker. All pages, text and fabulous illustrations are in really good, clean, readable order. The odd and occasional foxing mark, hardly noticeable. A truly lovely book that would adorn any stylish library.

Full Calf. Condition: Very Good. Lovely full-calf binding, with gilt centerpiece figure of a bird, a subtle blindstamped perimeter band, animal figures in gilt placed in spine compartments. The calf itself has a pleasing and warm speckling that sets it apart. 8vo. 19 by 12.5 cm. xxiv, 416 pp. Many engraved plates. Occasional light foxing, but mostly clean. Slight, even warping of the boards, but other than light wear, the binding has an uncommon freshness to it.

Half Calf. Condition: Very Good. Reprint. xxiv, 416 pp. Bound by Zaehnsdorf in brown half calf over brown cloth. Five raised bands to spine with gilt decoration and lettering. Top edge gilt. Marbled endpapers. With engraved frontis and 40 hand-coloured illustrated plates. Occasional light foxing. No names or other markings. A Very Good copy. 202b 8vo.
