The Comedy of Errors has been popular on the stage during the last three centuries and has proved itself admirably suited to adaptation as pure farce and musical spectacle. Professor Dorsch's edition pays special attention to the earliest known performance at Gray's Inn Hall during the Christmas revels of 1594. The set and staging are reconstructed in some detail, based on the account in the Geta Grayorum (here reproduced) and illustrated with drawings by C. Walter Hodges. The introduction clears up some uncertainty about the date of the play's composition. The edition is illustrated with drawings, reconstructions and photographs of early and recent productions described in the stage history. 115 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions ,and all types of Academic Literature.).

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Julius Caesar, Edited by T. S. Dorsch, Hardcover, The Arden Edition of the Works of William Shakespeare, UK, 6th Edition (1955). Michael Macmillan's edition of "Julius Caesar" was first published in 1902. It was reprinted four times. This sixth edition (T. S. Dorsch) was revised and reset in 1955. Book in very good condition, in a good unclipped dust jacket. The book has slight bumping to the spine ends, with page ageing. The name "Edgar Vincent" is inked to the inside front page. Edgar W. Vincent read English at St Catherine's College, Oxford, and subsequently became a writer, having produced books on Horatio Nelson and A. E. Housman. The dust jacket shows general wear and ageing, especially internally. It has notable small losses to the spine ends and wear to the hinge ends. Nonetheless a very good copy overall for a book of this age. (See pictures).
