Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. FIRST Edition with same date on title page and copyright page. NOT a facsimile. A VERY GOOD Plus volume. Fascinating historical correspondence. A still bright spine title and top edge gilt. Crown cloth just starting to fray with foot of spine cloth gently bumped (see photo). Bound in brown ribbed cloth, which is mildly soiled. Original tissue guard in place over frontispiece of Webster. A 'sliver' approx. 1" long, is lacking from bottom edge of frontispiece (appears neatly cut). Weak front hinge, but still a very tight text block overall. Lovely publishers deckled page edges, several uncut along front edges. A clean, unmarked copy, except for very light age toning to margins (only). A large "Chronological Index" at rear of "Letters TO Daniel Webster" and 'Letters FROM Daniel Webster". 769 pages. A wonderful addition to any historians library.
