Hess, David (1770 Zürich - 1843 ebd. schweizer Schriftsteller, Komponist und Künstler. Trat 1787 auf Wunsch seines Vaters in ein Schweizerregiment in holländischen Diensten ein, 1793 Teilnahme an einem Feldzug in Holland, 1796 Rückkehr nach Zürich. 1798 Hauptmann bei den Zürcher Truppen, 1803 - 30 gehörte er dem Zürcher Gr. rat an. Ab 1801 literarische Veröffentlichungen, tlw. unter dem Pseudonym Daniel Hildebrandt, einen Teil seiner Werke hat er selbst mit radierten Karikaturen illustriert).
