Very handsome book in clean fresh red buckram covers with a striking design in glowing gilt red and black colours to the front; titles in black; ; similar pattern to spine but colours somewhat sunned; the rear board has a blind stamped border with a foliar pattern. Internally very good and free of inscriptions; illustrated with over twenty full page plates with pasted-on engravings ; title page in red and black; plates and text pages all have a double red border line; binding sound; scattered variable foxing; end papers have a lovely foliar pattern on a muted gold background; all edges gilt; 88pp + plates; except for the last page all text pages and plates are on the rectos only.
