Offprint. Condition: . 1st Edition. Quarto. Pp. 5-14. Original printed stiff wrappers. In a very good condition. ~ FIRST EDITION thus. Reprinted from Journal of the American Research Center in Egypt, 1963. Obituary and a list of published writings. Henry George Fischer (1923-2006). Together with Dows Dunham. ~[Librarium of The Hague offers the largest and finest collection of Egyptological offprint monographs in the rare book market. With the acquisition in recent years of multiple Egyptological libraries (those of Prof. Herman te Velde; Prof. Mathieu Heerma van Voss, Prof. Baudouin van de Walle; Prof. Michel Malaise; Prof. Herman De Meulenaere; Egyptologist Jacobus Visser, and former Trustee of the Egypt Exploration Society, Stewart Dale White), we now hold several thousands of rare offprint monographs which were collected over many years by these scholars. Very limited in number when originally issued and fragile by nature, most are by now practically extinct and the scarce survivors are much sought after. We took upon ourselves to collate, catalogue, and identify each item in accordance with Beinlich-Seeber or Annual Egyptological Bibliography, in the hope that this collection will prove useful for scholars and collectors alike. Hardcover. Dust Jacket Condition: No dust jacket. First edition. Fine. One of Boston's Museum of Fine Arts' excellent publications. Queen Mersyankh III was the daughter of Hetepheres II and Prince Kawab, and wife of King Khafre. (The name Mersyankh is often transcribed as "the Living One loves her," but now, the version Meresankh, "she loves life" has been almost universally adopted.) Her tomb was discovered in 1927 by George Reisner, with further excavations undertaken by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and Harvard University. The Museum holds a statue from her tomb of Queen Hetepheres embracing her late daughter Meresankh. The first volume of the Giza Mastabas Series. Pristine throughout. Twenty plates, 14 figures, two multi-paged foldouts. No names or markings of any kind. Fine. Faint discoloration of covers.
