Condition: Very Good. Oval shape Portrait of Napoleon I, bareheaded.This original drawing in charcoal of Napoleon I offers a good rendering of the modelings of the face: the straight nose, the lips delicately hemmed, the discreet but voluntary chin, the lock of hair wrapped on a serene front. The Emperor wears his classic frock coat and sports the spit of the legion of honor.Mme Dumeray, née Brinau, was an active artist in the early nineteenth century. Pupil of Laurent and Augustin, she drawn many miniatures including portraits of King Charles X, the Duchess of Aumont and the Duke of Penthièvre and participated in all the salons between 1806 and 1824.This charcoal is perhaps the first sketch of a portrait of the Emperor sold in public auction in 1894., Image Size : 570x472 (mm), 22.44x18.58 (Inches), Platemark Size : , Paper Size : , Black & White, Drawing & charcoal.
