Duclos "considérations" erschienen 1750 und erregten die größte Aufmerksamkeit. Allein der erste Satz ("J'ai vécu, je voudrois être utile à ceux qui ont à vivre") provozierte die Öffentlichkeit, die in Duclos lediglich einen bramarbasierenden Caféhaus-Besucher sehen wollte (cf. Hoefer 15, 20f.).
