First edition of this pictorial account of Oflag II D - a camp in the early stages of the second world war in Gross-Born (now Borne Sulinowo, Poland). Its inmates included French officers. phototypes by Georges Duval, Lithography by Mourlot Freres and colouring by Beaufumé. Although in many ways a decent copy, the paper spine is missing, so that the work is entirely disbound, with a front and rear soft cover. These are somewhat darkened. Inside, the pages are in good condition. Many pages uncut. Beautiful colour and single colour illustrations throughout. Text by Commander Mabileau, Lieutenant Dubout, Adrien Sadoul, Private Brunet, Lieutenant Canat de Chizy, Lieutenant Vidal, Charles Caussade, Lieutenant JL Aussel, Lieutenant Peretti de la Rocca.
