Couverture rigide. Condition: Très bon. Illustré de fac-similés, de cartes et de plans en n.& b. « Nommé intendant de la Nouvelle-France en 1725, Dupuy arrive à Québec l'année suivante. Il est chargé d'administrer la justice dans la colonie. Durant son mandat, il examine les problèmes posés par la colonisation française en Amérique du Nord, notamment la question des droits des Français sur le territoire des Iroquois. Il oeuvre également à l'exploitation des sols et encourage la culture du chanvre, sans obtenir beaucoup de succès. Dupuy s'intéresse aussi à l'aménagement de la ville de Québec et légifère sur l'exploitation des cabarets. Il se penche sur la question des finances et en vient à la conclusion que la métropole n'envoie pas suffisamment de ressources dans la colonie canadienne. L'intendant Dupuy ne s'entend pas avec le gouverneur de la Nouvelle-France, Charles de Beauharnois. À la mort de l'évêque de Québec, Mgr Jean-Baptiste de La Croix de Chevrières de Saint-Vallier, en décembre 1727, Dupuy est nommé exécuteur testamentaire et doit arbitrer un conflit au sujet de la présidence des obsèques de l'évêque. Sa mauvaise gestion de la crise lui vaut les reproches du roi Louis XV, qui le rappelle en France en 1728. Comme l'intendant avait contracté des dettes importantes lors de son mandat, ses biens sont saisis, puis vendus. Dupuy passe les dernières années de sa vie à la construction de machines hydrauliques.» Exemplaire de bibliothèque.
