Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: not applicable. First Edition. Standard work on ecclesiastical costume, beautifully illustrated with a series of full page plates. Mainly re France but includes examples from Italy, Portugal, Poland, Austria and Germany. The binding is very pleasing - full contemporary polished calf, raised bands, gilt decoration to spine panels. The only notable faults are a small amount of chipping at the spine tips. Very good, clean, tight and sound copy other than for one plate loosening at pp 72. A small worm track runs from the beginning of the volume through to leaf F but is safely out of the way in the lower right hand corner of the wide margin at the bottom of the pages. No inscriptions. Several pages are misnumbered, as usual. The 4 pages following p. 72 are numbered 72, 72, 73 and 73 respectively.
