No Binding. Condition: Very Good. An in-house operational dyeline map 69x86cm, not to scale, dated 21 April 1981. Very good, neatly folded with yellowing at folds. A very rare survivor, with no other copies or references found. This presents an unusual schematic view of Saudi Arabia, centred on Aramco's national telecoms needs and organisation, before the introduction of fibre-optic cable technology in 1984. Its main hubs are clearly identifiable at Dhahran, Ras Tanura, and Abqaiq. Coming during a period of major expansion, these link to major sites dispersed roughly geographically, including Tapline, Safaniya, the new industrial cities of Jubayl and Yanbu, Dammam, Al Khobar, airport, Hofuf, Shedgum gas terminal; Jeddah, Riyadh, Khurais (oil field), etc. Links to other companies include Sceco (the state electricity company that Aramco was temporarily running), Mobil, and Petromin the state oil company. Features include planned switch / trunk groups (notably the large planned network for Yanbu), and switches for "SAG" (perhaps an abbreviation for Saudi Arabian Govt), Aramco, Sceco and Tapline, need for long distance calls. Notes indicate current limitations and workarounds. Eg. "Presently 2 directory numbers from Dhahran 2 are working in Jeddah SG-1 and can be accessed from Dhahran via Operator". "Presently 1 trunk (one way) from Yanbu NGL to Dhahran is working as temporary trunk".
