Regarded as one of the two most influential cartoonists, the other being William Hogarth, many of his works are held at the National Portrait Gallery in London. This set contains: The Satirical Etchings of James Gillray, 1976. Illustrated with eight colour plates and ninety-six black-and-white plates. Collated complete. Edited by Draper Hill, an American cartoonist and writer. James Gillroy: The Art of Caricature, 2001. Illustrated with over two hundred images, many of which are in colour. Written by Richard Godfrey, a British art historian. Previously held in the library of the Laurence family, descendants of French Laurence, an English jurist and man of letters, a close associate of Edmund Burke whose literary executor he became.
