Blind-decorated cloth a little rubbed and bumped at the extremities; edges and first and last few leaves foxed; an excellent copy. The University Philosophical Society, Dublin, Members' Library bookpl…ate is mounted on the front flyleaf (cockling it a little); an inscription by the librarian on the pastedown notes that the book was presented to the Society by the author in February 1887. Thomas Graham (1805-1869) is known as the founder of colloidal chemistry and for his fundamental research on the nature of phosphoric acid and phosphates, diffusion of gases, liquids, and solutions, adsorption of gases by metals, dialysis, osmosis, mass transfer through membranes, and the constitution of matter (Wisniak, 2013; accessed on ScienceDirect).
