With numerous woodcuts, colored plates, and portraits; also Angstroms and Kirchhoff's maps. Presumed First American. Preface to the Second Edition.Editor's Preface from December 1871. Green cloth covered boards with gilt device/ black design to front , gilt lettering /design to spine.This copy is VERY GOOD. Exterior is modestly rubbed to boards. More so to spine ends and tips. Gilt bright. Inside has neat PO signature to top front paste down. Tape repair to front hinge and to preface page. Illustrated. Frontispiece with tissue guard. 2 pp. ads to rear. Text is unmarked, firmly bound with modest toning.
