Signé et inscrit par l'auteur à Adolphe Cattaui Bey qui appartenait à une riche famille juive égyptienne et avec son Ex libris à l'avant. Très probablement lié par le relieur V. Wachter, Le Caire qui a relié "Description de l'Egypte" mais sans le billet du relieur. 16x24 cm Beautifully bound in contemporary half leather and brown mottled boards. Titled in gilt to the spine with 5 raised bands.With light wear to corners and spine tips with tiny opening along the spine at the foot. Signed and inscribed by the author to Adolphe Cattaui Bey who belonged to a wealthy Jewish Egyptian family and with his Ex libris at front. Most likely bound by the Bookbinder V. Wachter, Cairo who bound "Description de le Egypte" but without the bookbinder's ticket. Signed by Author(s).…

Hard Back. Condition: Very Good+. C. 1911 - 1934. 12 volumes + the index, each in a good quality black imitation / bonded half-leather binding with green silky textured cloth covered boards, gilt titles to spine and front boards and floral green endpapers, with the exception of the more recently bound volumes 10, 11 & 12, whose boards are of green linen, without the silky texture and appearance, and which have white endpapers. Lightly bumped with a little wear showing the cloth layer to the extremities of the spines. Vol 1 has some minor water damage to front cover and pencil marks to front endpaper. Internally very crisp and clean. Almost no foxing. Overall VG+. Photos available on request. All colour plates of species, as well as a large number of subspecies and varieties, are reproduced at half their natural size based on photographs. The main Table Generale (index) gives the names of families, genera, species, sub-species and varieties in Latin.
