No Binding. Condition: Collectible-Fine. Original hand-drawn and engraved comic strip art by Don Tobin for the comic strip, The Little Woman. "Don Tobin" in black ink at the top of the panel; is possibly a printed signature because there is a purple stamp on the back that says, "Engraved by CP, Sep 19, 1969." Original black ink on white paper with white pigment for original corrections and editing. Caption handwritten in pencil. Original sticker on the side of the panel says, "[Copyright] King Features Syndicate, Inc., 1969. World rights reserved." While most of the panel is engraved, there are small hand-drawn portions in black and white pigment for original corrections and editing. October 16, 1983. 8 1/4" x 10 3/8." Art is very clean and intact with minimal age wear. This is a single-panel comic. The panel shows the iconic husband and wife, Herbert and Emily Butterworth, who star in The Little Woman. The couple is stranded next to their car in the woods with its hood open. Herbert examines the engine while Emily stands by and says, "The man at the gas station said we needed a battery, but I told him we already had one." Tobin often used the "ditzy" nature of Emily and car troubles as comedic devices in The Little Woman. Don Tobin (1916-1995) was an American cartoonist whose career included working for Walt Disney Studios. Tobin worked on Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck cartoon shorts and feature films such as Fantasia, Pinocchio, Dumbo, and Bambi. Tobin left the studios after the infamous 1941 strike and went on to collaborate with the Navy on World War II animation projects. After this, he began to make gag cartoons for popular magazines. In 1953, Tobin created The Little Woman which was syndicated by King Features and ran until 1982.
