The author brings us into the undersea world he discovered while conducting research for the French Navy, & shares his discoveries in 24 full-page black-and-white plates & 236 pages. Orig. published in French in 1953, this is the Third Printing from 1954, translated into English by Alan Ross. With deep blue cloth-covered boards stamped with a silver seahorse to front/lettered in silver to spine, this hardcover is in Near Fine condition: exceptionally clean & bright & completely unmarked save for mild toning to front endpapers. Binding strong & straight, pages lightly tanned. Corners crisp, mild pushing to heel of spine. The unclipped DJ is VG, with mild rubbing to both ends of spine & rubbing, but no chips or tears; nicely protected in new clear mylar cover free (removed for photo accuracy)!
